Cookie policy

Which cookies we use and why.

Who is responsible

Kimberly Alkemade is responsible for this website, kimberlyalkemade.com. Questions about cookies or your data? Email contact@kimberlyalkemade.com. How personal data is handled is described in the privacy policy.

What are cookies

A cookie is a small file that a website stores on your device. Sites also use similar techniques, such as local storage. In this policy we call all of these cookies.

Your choice

On your first visit we ask for consent for cookies that require it. You can accept everything, reject everything or choose per category. Rejecting does not affect how you use the site. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie icon at the bottom left of the page. You can delete stored cookies in your browser settings.

Necessary cookies

These cookies are needed to remember your cookie choice. No consent is required for them.

  • cookieyes-consent (CookieYes, 1 year): remembers the choice you made.

Functional cookies

These cookies remember a preference of yours. They are only set with your consent.

  • pll_language (Polylang, 1 year): remembers the language you choose, Dutch or English.

Statistics without consent

These cookies show us how many people visit the site and which pages they view, so we can improve it. They have little impact on your privacy and fall under the exemption for analytics cookies, so we do not ask for consent for them. We only use the data for our own insight and do not combine it with other data.

  • _pk_id.11467.5d1e (13 months) and _pk_ses.11467.5d1e (30 minutes) (WPMU DEV statistics, based on Matomo): recognise a visitor and a visit, to count page views.

Analytics cookies with consent

These cookies are only set with your consent.

  • _ga and _ga_JXHD9ESD44 (Google Analytics 4, 2 years): recognise a returning visitor and keep track of the session. IP anonymisation is enabled. Google Signals is on: Google may link visitor data to signed-in Google users who have enabled personalised ads, for aggregated reports.

Google may process data outside the European Economic Area. Google participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Embedded content from other sites

Some blog posts contain embedded content from YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud, Instagram, Facebook and X. Those parties may set their own cookies and track your behaviour once the content loads. This happens under their own policies, which we cannot change. We only load this content after you have given consent.

Services without cookies

Images and files from this site are delivered through the WPMU DEV content network (Smush CDN). That party sees your IP address, but no cookies are set. Forms on this site do not use cookies. Your consent is recorded by CookieYes, with a random ID and without name or email address, so that we can show you made a choice.

Your rights

You can ask us for access to, correction of or deletion of your data. Email contact@kimberlyalkemade.com. If we cannot resolve it, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Changes

We update this policy when the site changes. Last updated on 16 October 2026.
